Additional Training Videos now Available  

To support educators with administering the WIDA Remote Screener, the following additional training has been added to the Remote Screener tile in the WIDA Secure Portal on Thursday, August 27.

• Grades 2-3 Administration.
• Grades 6-8 Administration.
• Think Aloud for Scoring (a short audio clip of the test administrator's thoughts as they fill out the student score sheet).

The WIDA Screener is an English language proficiency assessment given to incoming students in Grades 1–12 to assist educators with the identification of students as English language learners (ELLs). Both versions, the paper-based and the online, assess the four language domains of Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing.

This webinar will provide a basic overview of the WIDA Screener for new educators preparing to administer and score the assessment, as well as a review for experienced test administrators. The purpose of this assessment is to help educators make decisions about whether a student is a candidate for English language support services.

During the webinar, participants will have time to ask questions. Please note that this webinar is not a replacement for the online training course.

This webinar series is designed for school principals, administrators, EL district coordinators, and leadership teams.  EL educators are encouraged to attend with school leadership in order to provide feedback.

The purpose of this eFacilitated workshop is for school leaders to reflect on their school’s policies and systems in order to craft a team-based leadership action plan that promotes equitable educational opportunities for multilingual learners. Participants will engage in interactive tasks related to equitable instruction for multilingual learners including: using discussion boards, participating in self-reflections, viewing video and analyzing, and creating action plans.
