EDUCATOR COLLABORATION TO SUPPORT MULTILINGUAL LEARNERS WORKSHOP

 This workshop will provide an overview of collaborative methods and structures for instruction and assessment. Utilizing WIDA tools, participants will explore and discuss “language development meaning-making” through language use, the Four C’s of Collaboration, and collaborative structures that support shared responsibility of multilingual learners. Teams will leave the workshop with access to tools and resources necessary for implementing collaborative structures to meet the needs of multilingual learners

WRITING WITH MULTILINGUAL LEARNERS IN THE ELEMENTARY GRADE WORKSHOP

April 7-8, 2020 from 

8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Laramie

This workshop will focus on writing instruction for English Learners which supports the use of the Teaching and Learning Cycle to produce successful academic writing and to communicate effectively for a variety of purposes and audiences.

EXEMPTION REQUEST PROCESS FOR STATEWIDE ASSESSMENTS

 All students are expected to participate in the Wyoming Assessment System. Every effort must be made to inform parents, guardians, and students of the testing calendar. On behalf of a student, school administrators may apply for exemption from participation for the following criteria:

  • The student is expelled for the entire testing window.
  • The student is an English Learner who has been enrolled in a U.S. school for less than one year. In this case, the student may be exempted from the ELA portion of the WY-TOPP only; however, the ACCESS test must be taken.
  • The student is placed in an out-of-state facility for the entire testing window.

Administrators should view the SAER site training video to learn how to submit exemption requests and submit exemptions on the SAER webpage. 

In order to submit an exemption request, you must have a WyEd account. Register  by completing this request form.
