SAFE TRANSMITTAL OF STUDENT TRANSCRIPTS

Wyoming post secondary institutions have started receiving student transcripts and the Wyoming Community College commission would like to remind school districts that unless your district has encrypted email, users should never email students transcripts or other personally identifiable information.  Safer options include using the Wyoming Transcript Center (WTC) or mailing through the United States Postal Service. The WTC is managed by the National Transcript Center, the world's largest provider of electronic student records.  Users can use the WTC to send student information to more than 25,000 institutions. Please contact Liz Foster for assistance with WTC user accounts.

NEW DIRECTORY ROLE!!!

A new role, English Learner Coordinator, has been added to the WDE609 School District Program Contacts report. Districts should assign this role to any district or school level EL Coordinator who would benefit from receiving EL related communications from the Wyoming Department of Education.  WyEd Administrators can assign the role to the appropriate users in WyEdPRO today.

REMINDER TO WYEDPRO ADMINISTRATORS: INACTIVATE YOUR SEPARATED STAFF

Another school year has come to a close.  June is a time when staff members retire and initiate contracts with other school districts.  The Wyoming Department of Education asks district WyEd Administrators to login to WyEdPRO and edit separated staff user accounts, changing their status from active to inactive.  Inactivating staff will automatically remove their rights to student level data and it will provide other districts the ability to search for them and reactivate them under their school district.

WOULD YOU LIKE STAFF WISER IDS RETURNED TO YOUR SIS?

The WDE would like to know if there are any districts interested in having WISER Ids for staff members automatically retrieved and returned to their student information system?  This would reduce or eliminate the need to use batch uploads. In order to have this functionality districts will have to store basic demographic information for staff members in their SIS.  Elements include the mandatory fields in the batch upload. Districts are not required to participate.

If you are interested please email Susan Williams, susan.williams@wyo.gov.
