OPPORTUNITY TO GATHER SCHOOL CLIMATE DATA

Students in Classroom

For the past three years, the Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) has partnered with Panorama Education to administer Student Climate Surveys across a broad reach of schools and explore the data in new and meaningful ways via Panorama’s interactive platform. Given the value of this tool, we are extending the opportunity to participate with all schools and districts across Wyoming. The survey content asks students about a variety of aspects of their school’s climate and culture. Once completed, district administrators, principals, and teachers can be provided with access to Panorama’s interactive and easy to use data platform to explore students’ perceptions. The dashboard allows district officials to compare their school’s results across the district and across the state. Surveys can be completed by students online and take less than 15 minutes to administer. There is a two-week window in the spring and fall of each school year when the surveys may be administered. If interested in pursuing this free opportunity or in learning more, complete this form. For any interim questions, contact Leslie Zimmerschied at the WDE.

WINDOWS 10 CUMULATIVE UPDATES

Windows 10 is a service, sometimes referred to as "Windows as a Service." In the past, Windows had several release types, including major revisions, service packs, and monthly updates. With Windows 10, there are two release types: Feature updates with new functionality twice per year, and quality updates with security updates once a month. The feature updates are cumulative; each update is built upon all of the updates that precede it and each version has it's own lifecycle. A device needs to install the latest update to remain supported. Devices that are behind a firewall or proxy server might not download the updates automatically. October 9, 2018 is the next End of Service date for two versions: Enterprise and Education version 1607 and Home, Pro, and Pro for Workstations version 1703. Contact Spenzer at spenzer.jackson@wyo.gov to discuss strategies for managing the updates.

2018-19 ENGLISH LEARNER (EL) GUIDEBOOK

Hands raised

The updated 2018-19 English Learner (EL) Guidebook is available here. The purpose of this guidebook is to set forth the conditions and methods for identifying, serving, and reporting to the WDE students who have Active English Learner or Monitor Status.

This guidebook is beneficial for student data coordinators and staff who submit the WDE684 Teacher/Course/Student Data Collection. Any questions about the reporting of EL or Monitor students on the WDE684 should be directed to Brian Wuerth. Questions about Title III and EL programs should be directed to Jessica Fancher.
