WDE is convening an accommodations committee to make final decisions for the statewide implementation of WY-TOPP testing accommodations. The department will release an updated Accommodations FAQ and a finalized Accommodations Guidebook after the committee makes final determinations. The committee will meet at the beginning of March and we hope to release the guidebook soon after the meeting.

ACCOMMODATIONS GUIDEBOOK REVIEW COMMITTEE

The Wyoming Department of Education would like to convene Special Education teachers and directors to review and give input on the Accommodations Manual for state testing. This committee will help finalize a 2018 Accommodations Guidebook to be released before the WY-TOPP Summative test window and will convene again following that window to make any necessary adjustments and finalize the 2019 Accommodations Guidebook/Manual. The first set of committee meetings (face-to-face) will occur in early March in Cheyenne. If you are interested and available, please complete the following survey by February 13, 2018.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Anne-Marie Williams, at Anne-Marie.Williams@wyo.gov.

The committee will meet in Cheyenne on June 21-22. Due to these committee meetings being held concurrently, applicants will only be selected for one committee, but applicants may use this single form to apply for either or both committees. Follow this link to apply for consideration to participate.

WY-TOPP INTERIM AND MODULAR TEST SECURITY: "NON-SECURE, NON-PUBLIC"

Modular and Interim assessment items are non-secure because teachers have access to view items and student answers. These items are non-public because items should not be printed, sent home, duplicated in any media or printed source, or projected. It is incumbent upon schools and TAs to keep items secure in order to be able to use the interim assessments as intended as a predictive indicator of student's performance on the summative assessment. Please view this acceptable use document for WY-TOPP modular and interim items.

ACT PLUS WRITING

The 2017-2018 ACT administration will include Writing. Pursuant to Wyoming Law W.S.21-2-202(xxx) "The college entrance examination shall at a minimum test in the areas of English, reading, writing, and mathematics for all students in grade eleven (11) or twelve (12)."

ACT-APPROVED ACCOMMODATIONS AND EL SUPPORTS

The deadline to submit accommodations for approval from ACT was February 2nd. Now it is time to run a TAA PIN report to monitor when/if student accommodations are approved by ACT. Page 17 of the PearsonAccessNext User Guide will guide you through how to run a TAA PIN report. If you have questions about accommodations or supports, please contact the ACT help desk at 800-533-6244 ext. 1788. Wyoming state code is 51.

The window for the WY-ALT independent field test is April 9-27.

WY-ALT students will be participating in an online independent field test this spring. A guidance document will be available soon for the WY-ALT independent field test. There will be 10 items per subject. The online assessment is adaptive and eliminates the use of the Student Placement Questionnaire and the Scale Score Starting Points Table.

Please view the WY-ALT IFT FAQ document for more information.
