WY-TOPP INTERIM AND SUMMATIVE WRITING PROMPT

typing

When a student comes to the end of the first segment on an ELA test with a writing prompt, the student is presented with the review screen that includes all previous items with the title “You have reached the end of this segment.” When the student clicks next to go on, a confirmation comes up “You are leaving the current segment. Are you sure that you want to do this?” If a student clicks “yes” at this point, s/he will not be able to return to the previous segment. At this point, the TA must approve the student to move onto the next segment, the writing prompt If the TA approves the student, then that student will be able to continue onto the writing prompt. If the TA does not approve the student, then the student’s test will be paused at that point – segment 1 completed and segment 2 not started – and the student will be logged out of the test. That student can resume testing at any time by logging in the same way, later that day or another day.

ACT SITE READINESS FOR ONLINE TESTING

If you plan to test online for the spring ACT administration, then it is time to begin the site readiness process.

During the site readiness process, you will configure your computers to ensure you can successfully test online. Completing site readiness can take a few hours or several days, depending on your needs.

To get started:

  • Make sure your systems meet the technical requirements, can do proctor caching, and can handle a mock administration. If they don’t, you’ll need to do paper testing.
  • Make sure the test rooms you’ll use can meet the facility requirements.
  • If examinees need accommodations or English learner supports, identify what is available in the online vs. paper formats. Even if you test online, some examinees may need to test on paper.

Please visit the Wyoming ACT website for in depth instructions on how to prepare for the ACT administration. Please contact the ACT help desk, 800-553-6244 ext. 2800 (Wyoming State code = 51), with questions.

ACT ACCOMMODATIONS APPLICATION IS DUE BY FEBRUARY 2ND

The accommodations application window is open; these applications are submitted through the Test Accessibility & Accommodations System (TAA) and must be submitted by February 2, 2018. ACT highly recommends starting your applications early to allow your site time to resubmit the application if there are any issues with your original application.

If you have any questions regarding accommodations, please contact the Wyoming ACT help desk at 800-553-6244 ext 1788 (Wyoming school code = 51).

ACCESS 2.0 TESTING WINDOW

TESTING WITH A MAGNIFYING GLASS

The 2017-2018 ACCESS 2.0 testing window is January 23rd - February 27th.

All students identified as an English Language Learner must be assessed annually in the language domains of reading, writing, speaking, and listening. EL students who also have an IEP or 504 plan may use documented accommodations on the ACCESS 2.0 assessment. IEP and 504 teams do not determine if a student will participate in the exam. These teams determine how a student will participate in the ACCESS 2.0 assessment.

Test materials will arrive starting Monday, January 8th. There will be overage provided for both the district and the school. Should the shipment ,including the overage, still fall short of the need, the window for supplemental orders will also be open at that time.

ACCESS 2.0 TEST SESSION SET UP

wrench

You can now set up test sessions in the WIDA AMS. The window for test session setup is from 12-4-17 to 2-27-18. Please note, that campuses may add newly enrolled EL students to test sessions who were not classified as ELs on the 684 file that was submitted in October.

Please click on the link to view the WIDA AMS User Guide.

ACCESS 2.0 FOR ELLs CHECKLIST

It is important for District & School Test Coordinators and Test Administrators to use the Wyoming ACCESS for ELLs Checklistbefore, during, and after testing. The checklist is a summary of all tasks that need to be completed for online and paper administration by all personnel involved. This is a "working document" that we are asking coordinators/administrators to provide feedback by adding/changing information on the document that would make it more helpful or accurate. Please follow this link to provide feedback on the checklist.
