WY-TOPP UPDATES

1) WY-TOPP FAQs are now available. Please see the TEACHER FAQ and the PARENT FAQ.

2) Statewide Training Test Day is September 5 at 9:00 a.m. Please review the training test Quick Guide prior to Training Test day. 

3) Technical manuals for WY-TOPP are available on this page of the AIR Wyoming Assessment Website. The following documents can be found on the website:

  • Technical Specifications Manual for Online Testing
  • System Requirements for Online Testing
  • DEI Tutorial
  • Supported Browsers/Devices

4) WY-TOPP Spring Interim is now mandatory for K-2. Please see the superintendent memo for details.

  • WY-TOPP Fall Interim (Grades 3-10, Optional): October 23 – November 17, 2017
  • WY-TOPP Winter Interim (Grades 1-10, Optional):  January 16 – February 9, 2018
  • WY-TOPP Spring Interim (Grades K-2, Mandatory): April 16 – May 11, 2018
  • WY-TOPP Summative (Grades 3-10, Mandatory): April 16 – May 11, 2018

5) The AIR Wyoming Assessment Website is now accessible. Tiles will become available as resources are uploaded. 


WIDA SCREENER TRAINING

There are two options for a one-day in-person training for the new WIDA Online Screener. The confirmed dates are September 19th and 21st with one training tentatively slotted to take place in the Casper area and the other in the Rock Springs/Green River area. As with all WIDA trainings/PDs, there will be no registration cost. These trainings will only cover the Online version, not the Paper version.  A minimum of 12 participants must be registered at each site so please share the training information with colleagues. Registration will close September 1st.

ACT PREPARATION TEACHER WORKSHOP

GEAR UP Wyoming will sponsor an ACT Preparation Teacher Workshop. The workshop will include a series of round table sessions that will be facilitated by Mary Kerns and a team of ACT Prep trained teachers (Alan Shotts and Steve Newton). Following a presentation by the Wyoming ACT Council, there will be a Q&A session. 

PTSB credit will be available for participants who attend all sessions on both days.

TECHNOLOGY COORDINATOR WEBINAR

AIR will host a second webinar for Wyoming Technology Coordinators on Wednesday, August 30. A video will be posted after the webinar for coordinators who cannot the meeting. The following topics will be discussed during the webinar:

  • Overview of Wyoming Portal and resources
  • School/building readiness for testing
  • System requirements
  • Installation of the Secure Browser
  • Uploading student and user information
  • Time for Q&A with the presenters

Phase I & II - Literacy and Formative Assessment

These trainings serve as foundational components within the comprehensive instructional framework that is further developed in Phase III -The Art and Science of Teaching. In this training educators will gain an awareness of the research regarding classroom assessment, understand the difference among obtrusive, unobtrusive, and student-generated assessments, and how to use each in the classroom, learn data analysis practices related to classroom assessments, and learn attributes of high-quality performance tasks.

  • September 12 - 13 in Evanston
  • January 22 - 23 in Casper

Phase III - The Art and Science of Teaching Unit 1
Districts should send teams of 6 – 8 educators for both Unit 1 and Unit 2. The Art and Science of Teaching will span a total of four full days. Two days in the Fall and two days in the Spring. Teams will include district or building leaders, instructional facilitators, and classroom teachers. Smaller teams will work with others attending the training.

Unit 1

  • September 21 - 22 in Gillette
  • October 11 - 12 in Casper
  • October 18-19 in Green River

Unit 2

  • January 25 - 26 in Gillette
  • January 29 - 30 in Casper
  • February 1 -2 in Green River

SURVEY: ACT DATES

We are still collecting responses to the ACT Test Date survey. To prepare for the 2017-2018 ACT administration, we need each campus to choose a testing window. It is okay if we receive multiple submissions for one campus. The survey will be open throughout the summer.
