SURVEY: ACT DATES

To prepare for the 2017-2018 ACT administration, we need each campus to choose a testing window. Please complete this survey. It is okay if we receive multiple submissions for one campus. The survey will be open throughout the summer.

We are collecting information to inform the creation of the new online assessment. This survey focuses on accommodations and tools that students use in the classroom. Please take time to complete the survey and/or share the survey with other educators.

FALL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROVIDED BY JAN HOEGH WITH MARZANO RESEARCH, LLC - PHASE I, II, and III

Phase I & II - Literacy and Formative Assessment

These trainings serve as foundational components within the comprehensive instructional framework that is further developed in Phase III -The Art and Science of Teaching. In this training educators will gain an awareness of the research regarding classroom assessment, understand the difference among obtrusive, unobtrusive, and student-generated assessments, and how to use each in the classroom, learn data analysis practices related to classroom assessments, and learn attributes of high-quality performance tasks.

  • September 12 - 13 in Evanston

Phase III - The Art and Science of Teaching Unit 1
Districts should send teams of 6 – 8 educators for both Unit 1 and Unit 2. The Art and Science of Teaching will span a total of four full days. Two days in the Fall and two days in the Spring. Teams will include district or building leaders, instructional facilitators, and classroom teachers. Smaller teams will work with others attending the training.

  • September 21 - 22 in Gillette
  • October 11 - 12 in Casper
  • October 18-19 in Jackson

WORKKEYS UPDATES

WorkKeys

The ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate® assessments and credential will be updated to ensure ongoing relevance and alignment to the changing skill requirements of today’s jobs. The updated assessments will continue to measure the same core set of broadly relevant career readiness skills that have historically been measured by the assessments. 

As part of the new ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate assessment, you can expect the following key changes:

  • The updated assessments will be delivered on a new and improved assessment delivery platform
  • Certificated will become available to national users in PDF format at no additional cost
  • Spanish translation will become available to national users
  • New branding of assessment names and improvements

WorkKeys Applied Math (replaces Applied Mathematics)

  • New and updated item content to better match today's job skills
  • Increased emphasis on specific skills
  • Addition of new skills

WorkKeys Graphic Literacy (replaces Locating Information)

55 minutes (both paper and online)

  • New and updated item content to better match today's job skills
  • Addition of new skills
  • Addition of new types of item stimuli
  • New score scale
  • Items have four response options instead of five
  • Fewer total number of graphics in test reduces cognitive load

WorkKeys Workplace Documents (replaces Reading for Information)

*You can expect to see these changes when you administer ACT WorkKeys in the spring of 2018. Additional information will be provided during the 2017-18 school year

*If you or your school administers ACT WorkKeys outside of the Wyoming Department of Education contract, these changes will impact you beginning this summer. Please ensure that you are informed of these changes by reviewing the information posted on the ACT WorkKeys News & Announcements site.
