POWELL HIGH SCHOOL AGRICULTURAL DRONE PROJECT

drone project

A group of eleven high school students based in the rural town of Powell, Wyoming have set out to explore the world of drones and agriculture. These two terms are not often associated with each other, and they are the first high school in the United States to officially conduct a drone research project. They seek to find useful applications of drone technology in the world of agriculture to solve problems in our local community and across the world. It is their hope and mission that others will be able to follow in their footsteps without falling in the same holes that they have. To find out more, contact R.J. Kost at Park County School District #1.

CONTENT SPECIALISTS NEEDED IN BUSINESS AND FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCE

Believe it or not, it has been about 4 years since we began the process of creating Wyoming Technical Skill Assessments that align to the C-VE Standards in the areas of Business, Marketing, Finance and Family and Consumer Science. It is time to review these assessments to determine the following: 1) Are the current assessments valid and reliable? If not, as a group we need to review and make changes. 2) Do we want to utilize a different assessment in lieu of the Wyoming created assessment? If so, what are the suggestions from the group?

The dates for the assessment review are October 31, 2016 - November 2, 2016 in Cheyenne. The WDE will reimburse the district for the cost of travel and lodging. If you are interested in participating contact Loralyn O’Kief, loralyn.okief@wyo.gov or Tonya Gerharter, tonya.gerharter@wyo.gov prior to October 3, 2016.
