Engineers make a world of difference with Wyoming's children
For Release: Sunday, February 18, 2018
Statewide - A record number of third graders
throughout Wyoming will get to work hand in hand with professional engineers as
part of the nationwide DiscoverE Engineer’s Week February 19-23, 2018. This year’s effort is matching over 100 professional
engineers from all corners of Wyoming with a record setting 3,238 students. These professionals will lead a fun hands-on
activity that teaches fundamental engineering principles by designing then building
life saver cars! This marks the third
annual Eweek in Wyoming. One of the goals for this year’s effort is to stress
the importance of quality STEM course work throughout each child’s educational
journey.
This is a collaborative effort with
the University of Wyoming, Wyoming Department of Education, Wyoming Engineering
Society, Wyoming Board of Professional Engineers and Professional Land
Surveyors, and the DiscoverE organization www.discovere.org.
Media are invited to attend classroom events
during the week. To coordinate a media
visit, contact the University of Wyoming K-14 Senior Project Coordinator, Teddi
Freedmann at 307-766-4236.
Engineering offers an exciting career
for anyone wanting to make a difference in the future. Engineer’s week is the only event of its
kind. It is a time to celebrate how
engineers make a difference in our world, increase public dialogue about the
need for engineers, and bring engineering to life for children, educators, and
parents.
The Wyoming Licensing Board of
Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors safeguards life, health
and property of the public by assuring that those who practice the professions
of engineering and land surveying are licensed and attain and maintain
competence in those professions. http://engineersandsurveyors.wyo.gov/
