BEEF IN THE NEWS
Beef continues to be featured in
major media outlets, thanks to the checkoff's extensive media-relations
efforts. For example:
- U.S. News and World Report, a highly influential and well-read outlet, recently featured an article "Red Meat and Your Heart Health: Can You Have Your Steak and Eat It Too?" written by cardiologist Dr. Kevin Campbell. Dr. Campbell worked with the Beef Checkoff to dispel common nutrition myths throughout the article, including sharing important information about beef's role in lowering cholesterol levels and blood pressure.
- U.S. News and World Report also recently ran an article, "Can you gain muscle while losing weight?" which quotes several nutrition influencers, including Jim White and Marie Spano. Their number one recommendation to build muscle, while losing fat, is to eat more protein at every meal, and citing the Beef Checkoff's "Protein Challenge" recommendations.
- Meat + Poultry, recently ran an article titled "Haste Makes Waste," discussing the growing awareness around food waste. This was part of media outreach conducted as the Beef Checkoff launched the Food Waste Challenge.
