Wyoming Beef Council joins marketing partnership targeting top five consumer states
The Wyoming Beef Council is pooling its checkoff dollars with other state beef councils in a summer campaign targeting millennial consumers in five high population states.State beef councils in Illinois, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Nebraska, Wyoming and Oklahoma, along with the Northeast Beef Promotion Initiative, are funding extended promotion of the online checkoff-funded flagship website BeefItsWhatsForDinner.com, along with the brand’s online videos, into California, Florida, New York, Illinois and Pennsylvania. Collectively, the five states targeted account for more than 100 million consumers or about one-third of the total U.S. population. Targeting areas outside the state is especially important to Wyoming, which has more cattle than consumers, explained Ann Wittmann, executive director of the Wyoming Beef Council.

Continued Success for Beef with New Checkoff Promotions
Through Facebook carousel ads and promoted Facebook posts, the
checkoff is not only reaching current "Beef. It's What's For Dinner"
Facebook fans, but also new millennial consumers that might not have been
previously exposed to the checkoff's recipes, tips and beef information. This
year, the carousel ads are helping to drive traffic to the Beef. It's What's
For Dinner" website and the promoted posts help to bring
together a larger community of beef lovers on social media. One of the recipes

Learning From Young Farmers and Ranchers
The U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance, funded in part by the beef
checkoff, has partnered with Discovery Education to bring science, technology
and entrepreneurship education to high-school students by allowing them to experience
agriculture through the eyes of six young farmers and ranchers. The materials,
based on the Farmland film released in 2014, are collectively named
"Discovering FARMLAND." They offer interactive resources that help
students learn about food production's connection to science, economics,
technology and sustainability. The lesson plans are standards-aligned and
aim to stimulate thoughtful conversations between educators and students about
key issues including: innovative use of technology on farms and how it has
transformed the industry; challenges farmers face, such as weather and growing
conditions; common stereotypes about farmers and ranchers; and market supply
and demand.
