SECRETARY'S LETTER

Stephanie Klett

Dear Friends,

Our Badger Gameday Sponsorship and Facebook Live broadcast was a hit. This was the second time we produced a livestream event of this magnitude. The broadcast featured special guests, including UW Athletic Director Barry Alvarez, three-time PGA Tour Champion Andy North and 2020 Ryder Cup Director Jason Mengel, among others. We aired several pre-packaged videos that showcased the charitable work of former Badger and Packers player Jared Abbrederis and organizations like Oscar Mike and Team Rubicon that support veterans. If you missed it, you can still watch it online.

I had the pleasure of speaking at the Upper Midwest Convention & Visitors Bureau Fall Conference in Lake Geneva. My remarks followed George Zimmerman, who was behind the Pure Michigan campaign.  It was a great opportunity to share how the Department of Tourism found success using the brand of fun to differentiate Wisconsin from its competitors.

My travels this month went from sand to mud in central Wisconsin. I toured Sand Valley Golf Resort in Rome, which is a stop-you-in-your-tracks stunner. It's a golf and outdoor recreation experience that is world-class. Next up, the WATVA hosted a special ride that was mud heaven and I appreciated seeing all the good work they do for ATV & UTV trails throughout the state.

Team Tourism had a blast helping me fulfill my duties as “Limburger Queen Forever” at the Green County Cheese Days Parade in Monroe. We had the entire crowd cheering, “Long Live Limburger!”

Happy Fall!

Fall Campaign: Come for the Color, Stay for the Gemutlichkeit

Every autumn, Wisconsin’s foliage comes to life with a dazzling display of vibrant color. Colors this stunning need an advertising campaign to match, and we’re celebrating the season by mixing traditional print, digital and broadcast pieces to encourage people to come for the fall color and stay for the Gemutlichkeit. See the Fall 2018 Campaign here.

          Fall PR Efforts

To drive national stories about Wisconsin, the PR team will distribute three seasonal media kits. A fall color media kit with downloadable video showcasing Wisconsin’s fall scenery will be sent to regional and national media. Travel Wisconsin will also send out a beer media kit detailing Wisconsin’s brewing heritage and a “Haunted Wisconsin” media kit to celebrate Halloween. A series of news releases will promote fall events and the Fall Color Report, and interviews to promote fall will be pitched to outlets around the state this month.
