Wisconsin Vacation Traditions Get “Real” in New Ad Campaign

Dear Friends,

We just wrapped our 30th annual Governor’s Conference on Tourism – our very own Super Bowl of Wisconsin Tourism!  It was educational, inspiring and an all-around blast. It was great to see so many of you there.

Every conference we share our new ad campaign with the tourism industry.  Last year, you saw us put an authentic spin on our brand of fun by showcasing Wisconsin experiences such as the iconic supper club and pet-friendly travel.  We’re thrilled to take that idea to the next level in our summer TV ad by featuring a real family who has been vacationing in Wisconsin for almost 60 years.  For fall, we are using drone footage to capture the state’s spectacular fall color.  Look for the summer ad campaign to launch May 1.  New this year, we’ll be running in the St. Louis market in response to exciting new research data.

If you missed them at the conference or just want to watch them again, they are posted on our Facebook page or check them out on the Travel Wisconsin YouTube page:

At the conference, we welcomed Apache Danforth to the Governor’s Council on Tourism. Apache is the Tribal Tourism Director for Native American Tourism of Wisconsin (NATOW).  She previously worked for Oneida Nation in public relations and has been a consultant for NATOW. We look forward to tapping her insights and experience as we work together to promote the state’s tribal tourism assets.

You’ll notice that Travel Wisconsin News has a brand new look.  Check out our new “Hats Off” section where we will showcase exciting news and shining stars from the tourism industry.  This month, we are featuring the five winners of this year’s Governor’s Tourism Awards.  Please join me in congratulating them!

Thirty-three nominees for The Governor’s Tourism Awards were recognized at this year’s conference. Congratulations to this year’s winners:
