Limburger Queen

Dear Friends,

This month we brought the Badger State to the Windy City with our first-ever “Wisconsin Weekend in Chicago.”  We kicked off the weekend with TV interviews on both WGN and Fox Chicago. We partnered with Millie’s Supper Club for a TV segment that took place outside on Fox Chicago’s Michigan Avenue plaza and showcased the food and history of the Wisconsin supper club.

We had a sold out event at Millie’s Supper Club that included incredible food, vacation giveaways and a showing of Holly De Ruyter's movie, “Old Fashioned:  The Story of the Wisconsin Supper Club.”  We made a big splash at Will’s Northwoods Inn annual Musky Fest during the Badger Football game where there were more than 5,000 people in attendance.  During the event we introduced the contestants of Will’s annual Musky Queen pageant and gave away more Wisconsin getaways. The weekend ended with the Packers game at FatPour Tap Works where we served up free deep fried cheese curds with every Packers touchdown.  The weekend was a huge hit and we look forward to doing it again next year!

Live on Fox 32

Team Tourism followed up Wisconsin Weekend with another great event, the 101st Green County Cheese Days.  The staff participated in the annual parade where I ended my two-year reign as Limburger Queen.  The crowd loved the Travel Wisconsin branded Andes mints we passed out – a Limburger tradition!

Join me in welcoming Julie Fox, our new Regional Tourism Specialist for the Northwest Region. Julie is a life-long resident of Northwest Wisconsin and has more than 28 years of experience working with the tourism industry as a Natural Resource Educator at Interstate Park for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.  Her first official day is Monday, October 3.

It’s hard to believe we are in the middle of September and heading into one of the best seasons for travel in Wisconsin.  The Travel Wisconsin Fall Color Report has launched and our fall ad campaign is in full swing.

Here’s to a colorful season of fun!
