Sec. Klett at Musky Fest

Hello Friends,

A big blue ribbon goes to the Wisconsin State Fair for another successful year.  Over 1 million people enjoyed the fair, making it the fourth year in a row that attendance broke a million.  We had 16 industry partners join us at the Travel Wisconsin booth in the Products Pavilion, where they helped us distribute 25,000 Department travel guides plus thousands of their own.  I can’t talk about the State Fair without mentioning my new favorite food and that is the deep-fried Old Fashioned dessert.  It was a clever spin on Wisconsin’s iconic drink and it tasted great!

Our 53rd Walk with Walker at Beckman Mill in Beloit was a smashing success. We had one of the largest turnouts ever with approximately 100 walkers.  I was thrilled to show the First Lady my hometown.  A big thank you to Visit Beloit and the Friends of Beckman Mill who did an outstanding job hosting the event.  We look forward to the next two walks in Sparta and Vilas County.

Beloit Walk with Walker

Last weekend, I completed my duties as the Honorary Musky Queen for Boulder Junction's 60th Musky Jamboree.  I had a real adventure riding in a 2-seat sea plane for the first time. The views of Boulder Junction and its 194 area lakes were incredible.  Next month the queen theme continues, many folks from the Department will be joining me at Cheese Days on the Limburger float as the Limburger Queen title comes to a close.

Clean up and rebuilding in the eight Northwest counties affected by flooding is going full-speed ahead.  All government agencies are working together to help the communities rebound as quickly as possible.  We’ll be back in the area for this month’s Cabinet on the Road.

Hard to believe summer is coming to an end soon.  Thanks for all your hard work.
