On Sept. 3, 2025, the PSC submitted the State’s Broadband Equity Access and Deployment (BEAD) Program Final Proposal to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). The Final Proposal provides the results of Wisconsin’s BEAD sub-granting process, and details preliminary awards intended to expand access to high-speed internet to more than 174,000 homes and businesses across the state.
The BEAD Final Proposal, as approved by the Commission, is preliminary and requires NTIA approval before awards can be finalized and construction of high-speed internet infrastructure can begin. Preliminary awards would provide funding to serve all BEAD-eligible locations throughout the state using a mix of fiber, fixed wireless and low Earth Orbit Satellite technologies. As the Wisconsin Broadband Office continues the curing and review process with NTIA, additional changes continue to be made. The Wisconsin Broadband Office has updated the BEAD Preliminary Awardees Map effective October 16, 2025. The map is available on the Commission website using the link below.

October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month
Governor Evers declared October Cybersecurity Awareness Month in Wisconsin. There are simple ways that Wisconsin residents and businesses can protect themselves from common risks that come with using the internet and modern technology.
The U.S. Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency recommends four actions to improve our personal and organizational cybersecurity:
-
Use strong passwords and create a different password for each account.
-
Turn on multi-factor authentication to strengthen account security.
-
Recognize and report phishing to avoid compromising personal information.
-
Update software regularly to get the latest security patches.
Cybersecurity support and education are critical parts of digital literacy and making sure all Wisconsin residents can connect to the internet and feel safe operating virtually. Cybersecurity awareness month is a great time to promote these simple actions we can all take to stay safe online.
