Road Updates

I-94 update

I-94 traffic switch set to begin

Beginning this week, the I-94 project team will implement a plan to re-open a third lane in each direction on the 11-mile freeway work zone in Kenosha and Racine counties.

In December, a phased approach will begin to shift traffic to the newly constructed roadway. The reopening of entrance and exit ramps will be staggered throughout the month. A series of overnight freeway closures will be necessary to accomplish this traffic shift. Motorists are advised to follow the detour signage and be alert to changing traffic conditions.

When the lane shift is complete, the new work zone will be in between the active lanes of traffic. Work will continue over the winter months in anticipation of reconstructing the new southbound lanes.

WisDOT thanks motorists, law enforcement and the community for their patience during this accelerated project.
