Taking
the Lead on Health Care Stability
When
Washington fails to act, Wisconsin will once again step up to act in the best
interest of our families.
Our
Health Care Stability Plan will ease the financial burden of skyrocketing
premiums for those on Obamacare’s individual market, continue to provide
prescription drug coverage for our seniors, and ensure protection for those
with preexisting conditions.
Hardworking Wisconsin families deserve
affordable health care coverage and we are taking the lead to make sure they
have it.
La Crosse Tribune: Cancer patient at
Mayo-Franciscan tells Walker: 'They're saving my life'
Over
the past week, we met with patients and health care professionals at hospitals
in La Crosse, Green Bay, Eau Claire, and Wausau to discuss our Health Care
Stability Plan.
While visiting the Mayo
Clinic Health System-Franciscan Healthcare in La Crosse, we had the privilege
to meet with Steve Dougherty, who was undergoing chemotherapy, and his wife,
Jodi.
The stories of
Steve’s battle with cancer, as well as the world-class treatment he has
received, hit home.
This plan is about much more than simply
making health care more affordable, it is about ensuring that anyone with a
preexisting condition, like Steve, has the opportunity to acquire life-saving
treatment and health care coverage here in Wisconsin.
Take
Your Governor to Work
It
was an honor to join David Pinno at McDonald’s in
New London this week for “Take Your Governor to Work Day,” a part of the Board for People with Developmental
Disability’s annual “Take Your Legislator to Work” Campaign.
We
will continue to invest in training programs that help people with disabilities
enter the workforce in order to help all
Wisconsinites enjoy
the self-independence that comes from work.
Fighting for Wisconsin Workers
We
continue to fight for Wisconsin workers and their families.
Keeping
longstanding Wisconsin companies like Kimberly-Clark, which provides
family-supporting jobs in the state, is one of our top priorities.
We’re
working closely with state legislators and our local and regional economic
development partners to make a strong case for Kimberly-Clark to retain its
operations in the Fox Valley.
By offering Kimberly-Clark larger tax credits,
we are not only fighting to sustain an important state industry – we are
standing with Wisconsin workers.
We enjoy sharing all the great news about our state with you. It is an honor to serve as your Governor and represent the people of Wisconsin.
Sincerely,
Governor Scott Walker
