Wisconsin exports went up 6.1% in 2017!
Not only is Wisconsin becoming more
attractive to global companies seeking to expand or establish operations in the
U.S., but existing state businesses are experiencing more success in selling
their products overseas.
Wisconsin exported $22.3 billion in goods
and services last year to more than 200 countries and territories across the
globe. Our agricultural industry alone saw a 3.6% year-over-year increase,
including a 19.9% increase in the export of dairy, eggs, and honey. Overall,
Wisconsin exported more than $3.5 billion in agriculture products to 147
countries in 2017
The growth in Wisconsin’s export business is
just another example showing that our reforms are working and our state’s
economy is growing.
Delivering on the Promise of Tax Relief
Last week, Speaker Vos and I agreed on a
tax relief package that delivers on the promise to return our budget surplus to
the hardworking taxpayers of Wisconsin. This is your money.
Our proposed tax relief package offers
Wisconsin families both a one-time child sales tax rebate of $100 per child and
a sales tax holiday, just in time to send their children back to school.
The child sales tax rebate would provide $100
for every child living at home under 18, and on top of that, a state and local
sales tax holiday would provide further tax relief to families during the first
weekend of August.
This broad tax
relief package is our way of giving hardworking taxpayers another break on top of the more
than $8 billion in tax relief that we’ve provided to Wisconsin families,
farmers, seniors, and employers.
This is your reform dividend.

proud to proclaim February 7th as UW-Whitewater Men’s Rugby Team Day
in honor of their 7-player and 15-player teams winning dual national
championships in 2017.
No other
college rugby teams have ever won two national championships in one calendar
year.
