Real Property Tax Relief for Real
People
This year, you may notice
something new on your property tax bill: a big zero under the state portion of
the total property tax. No, you’re not seeing things, we completely eliminated
the state property tax levy!
That’s right: 100% of
Wisconsin taxpayers will see a 100% reduction on their state property tax bill,
now and going forward. Plus, as promised, property taxes on the typical home
will be lower in 2018 than when we took office in 2010.
We believe you know how
to spend your hard-earned money better than the government does. Our
across-the-board property tax relief means you’ll have more money in your
pocket to spend, save, and invest as you see fit.
This is good for families
helping put their kids through school. It’s good for young couples buying their
first home and starting a family. It’s good for senior citizens living on a
fixed income. And it’s good for our farmers and business owners working to
reinvest and grow.
We are working and
winning for Wisconsin.
Investing in Our Infrastructure
Our roadways, bridges,
and other infrastructure mediums are essential in the lives of all
Wisconsinites, whether it be for commuting, business, or travel. That’s why one
of our top priorities is investing in maintaining and developing our
infrastructure.
This week, I announced
the Wisconsin Department of Transportation will complete the WIS 441 Project a
year ahead of schedule. Soon, northeastern Wisconsin residents will have faster
access to reliable infrastructure and boosted local economic development.
On top of that good news,
our budget invests more than $6 billion into maintaining our roads, bridges,
and other infrastructure across the state, and we gave local governments the
largest increase in road and bridge aids in more than a decade. In fact,
through the end of the state budget, we will have invested a cumulative $24
billion into our transportation system—that’s $3 billion more than the previous
administration over the same amount of time.
Investing in our
infrastructure is solid, common-sense policy that benefits all Wisconsinites.
It’s just one more way we’re moving Wisconsin forward.
Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays
to Wisconsin’s Heroes
Major General Don Dunbar
and I would like to wish a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to the
over-10,000 strong brave men and women serving in the Wisconsin National Guard,
and to all our service members who selflessly defend our freedoms each and
every day.
It’s important we keep in
mind, as we spend time with our families this holiday season, that some service
members and their families may not get to spend the holidays together this
year. Today, and every day, we thank you for your daily, willing sacrifices,
and we look forward to your safe return home.
One of my favorite parts
of the holiday season is making a batch of our family’s frosted pecans. The
recipe is simple, and they’re perfect for parties, family gatherings, or just
enjoying while you watch your favorite Christmas movie. Give it a try—it just
might become a holiday staple for you too!
