Moving Wisconsin Forward With Foxconn
Foxconn, the world’s
largest contract electronics manufacturer, is set to make a historic $10
billion investment in Wisconsin and create 13,000 sustaining, family-supporting
careers.
This is a
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Wisconsin, and we’re ready to move forward
with truly transforming our economy and producing positive ripple effects
across the state.
In Foxconn’s
state-of-the-art facility, the first of its kind in the country, the most
high-tech, cutting edge technology in the world will be proudly made in
America, right here in Wisconsin. Our highly skilled, dependable workforce will
manufacture advanced 8K LCD panels to be used in self-driving cars, aircraft
systems, healthcare machinery, automation, and other important industries in
our modern economy.
Additionally, an economic
impact study by a UW-Madison economist shows Foxconn is expected to create tens
of thousands of indirect and induced jobs in constructing the new facility and
supporting the manufacturing workforce. All the new jobs and economic activity
could lead to a return of nearly four dollars for every one dollar of state
investment!
All this new investment
and growth, and the investments of companies like Haribo and Millipore Sigma,
encourages other companies to invest and expand in Wisconsin too, and creates
opportunities for more skilled workers from out of state to live and work in
our state.
We’re confident the
return on our Foxconn investment will deliver a significant positive impact on
Wisconsin families for generations to come.
Get Ready for Wisconsin’s 2017 Deer
Hunting Season
Crunchy leaves and crisp
mornings are here again, and that means it’s almost time for Wisconsin’s
nine-day gun deer hunting season, starting November 18th!
Hunting is a special
tradition here in Wisconsin. It brings together hunters across the state and
attracts hunters from all over the world, inspiring fun and camaraderie and
boosting our local communities and the state’s economy as a whole.
Last year, we made it
easier for Wisconsin’s hunters to prepare with our “Go Wild” website, GoWild.wi.gov, where hunters can purchase their hunting licenses
and register their deer online.
This year, we’re
streamlining the process even more. Hunters are no longer required to validate
their deer tags, attach tags to harvested deer, or keep deer tags with the
meat. All they have to do is carry proof of a valid deer tag in the field and
register their deer after harvesting.
If you have any questions
or want to get started preparing for this year’s hunting season, visit GoWild.wi.gov, or, as always, you can visit a vendor near you to
make sure you’re fully aware of any changes in this year’s hunt.
We hope all Wisconsin
hunters and visitors to our state have a successful and enjoyable hunting
season this year. Good luck, have fun, and be safe!
Wisconsin’s Capitol Christmas Tree Is
Here!
As we look forward to
this year’s hunting season, so too do we look ahead to celebrating Christmas and
the holiday season. This week our Capitol Christmas tree, a beautiful 40-foot
balsam fir from the Town of Emery donated by Jim Ryf, arrived in the Capitol
and awaits decoration.
This year’s tree is extra
special, as it marks the Capitol building’s 100th Christmas and will
be adorned with ornaments from school children around the state.
We thank Jim Ryf for
donating the tree, and we’re looking forward to seeing it decorated in the
rotunda!
We enjoy sharing all the great news about our state with you. It is an honor to serve as your Governor and represent the people of Wisconsin.
Sincerely,
Governor Scott Walker
