Last
week, I joined Vice President Pence and manufacturing workers at Weldall
Manufacturing in Waukesha to talk about the great strides we’ve made here in
reforming and cutting taxes and the federal tax reform agenda. By the end of
the current state budget, the cumulative tax relief since we took office will
be $8 billion!
Our new state
budget eliminates the state portion of the property tax, and property taxes for the average homeowner will be lower in 2018 than in 2010.
At the same time, we’re exempting small businesses from $74 million in
restrictive taxes on machinery equipment.
In fact, in 2010, Wisconsin was one of the ten worst
states in the nation for taxation. Through our common-sense reforms, we brought
Wisconsin out of the bottom 20 and earned our best tax ranking in over 50 years, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
We know that you do a better job of spending your
hard-earned money than the government does.
We are working and winning for Wisconsin.
Manufacturing Month: Celebrating Wisconsin's Manufacturers this October
We’re celebrating Manufacturing Month throughout the
month of October in recognition of the manufacturing industry’s impact on
Wisconsin’s culture and economy.
The importance of manufacturing in our state is clear:
last year, our manufacturing industry employed more than 461,000 Wisconsinites,
accounted for more than 18 percent of our gross domestic product, and
contributed over $56 billion to Wisconsin’s economic growth.
Manufacturing businesses
often serve as a staple in their communities, supporting families and
hardworking taxpayers throughout the state.
This year, Manufacturing Month takes on even greater
significance with the addition of global manufacturers such as Foxconn and
Haribo, who have announced their decision to locate in Wisconsin, bringing
thousands of manufacturing jobs to the state and reinforcing our already strong
manufacturing industry.
Honoring Wisconsin National Guard's Red Arrow Brigade and the Air National Guard
Over the weekend, Tonette and I
invited members of the Wisconsin National Guard and their families to the
Executive Residence to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Wisconsin's Air
National Guard and the 100th anniversary of Wisconsin National Guard’s Red
Arrow Brigade with brats, music, and fun.
The
Red Arrow Brigade is Wisconsin’s largest National Guard unit and has served
with distinction and bravery since World War I, while the Air National Guard
has done the same since 1947.
It’s
important for Wisconsinites to do our part to recognize the hard work and
selflessness of our Wisconsin guardsmen and women. Our support is the least we
can do for their daily dedication to keep us safe every day.
We enjoy sharing all the great news about our state with you. It is an honor to serve as your Governor and represent the people of Wisconsin.
Sincerely,
Governor Scott Walker
