Foxconn Could Return $4 For Every $1 Invested
A
new report released by a UW-Madison economist this week indicates Foxconn is
expected to create up to 39,000 direct and indirect jobs and a return to
taxpayers of nearly four dollars for every one dollar invested. These are
family-supporting jobs that will span the entire state.
Foxconn
is a transformational opportunity for Wisconsin – one that will have a ripple
effect reaching every corner of our state.
Suppliers,
and suppliers to suppliers, are interested in learning more. Earlier this week,
I traveled to La Crosse, Eau Claire, and Green Bay for info sessions, and it
was great to see everyone’s enthusiasm firsthand.
Wisconsin
companies interested in potentially doing business with Foxconn and other
multimillion dollar in-state companies can use Supply
Chain Marketplace to register their businesses and services.
The
economic potential is great. Wisconsin would be home to a high technology
manufacturer – the first of its kind in America. We are bringing a whole
industry back to America.
The
ripple effect is that Foxconn’s investment encourages other companies to invest
in our state, attracts skilled workers from out of state to relocate here, and
encourages our next generation of workers to develop skills necessary in the 21st
century workforce.
Wisconsin Ranks No. 1 for Quality of Health Care
For the
second time in about a month, Wisconsin health care ranks among the top 10
states in the nation.
This week,
the federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality released its National
Healthcare Quality and Disparities report, which shows Wisconsin leads in the
nation, up from 3rd third last year, and 7th in 2010.
This
announcement comes on the heels of the federal Health Resources and Services
Administration ranking Wisconsin as one of the top states for outstanding
quality performance at rural hospitals.
Delivering
high-quality health care doesn’t happen by chance, it is the result of
personalized, patient-centric service.
Thank you
to Wisconsin’s hospital and health care system leaders, physicians, nurses, and
other health care provides who work to deliver the highest-quality care in the
nation.
First Lady Walker Champions Trauma-Informed Care
House
Resolution 443 (H. Res. 443), which recognizes the importance and effectiveness of
trauma-informed care, continues to gain national attention and bipartisan support with 60 national, regional, and local organizational sponsors
and three new cosponsors: Representatives Sean Duffy, Grace Napolitano, and Ron
Kind.
Introduced on July 13, H. Res. 443
works to raise awareness about trauma-informed care at the national level by
integrating trauma-informed care principles into existing federal programs and
agencies.
This is an important cause for
Tonette, who started Fostering
Futures
in 2010 to raise awareness about childhood trauma. She worked closely with
Representatives Gallagher and Davis to introduce this resolution to the House
Floor and continues to advocate for its advancement in the House.
We enjoy sharing all the great news about our state with you. It is an honor to serve as your Governor and represent the people of Wisconsin.
Sincerely,
Governor Scott Walker
