We’ve been fighting to end opioid abuse by bolstering mental health services in schools and expanding treatment programs all across Wisconsin. It’s been a bipartisan effort to save lives and to better our
communities – but we’re not done yet.
For a state whose motto
is “Forward,” we cannot be content with “good enough.”
That’s why on Monday, I
am signing 11 bills into law that continue to support medical professionals,
communities, and individuals who are working to provide treatment and end opioid
abuse in Wisconsin. This HOPE legislation funds two new treatment facilities in
underserved areas, expands our criminal justice team that specializes in drug
trafficking, and provides addiction medical consultation programs for doctors.
We’re also working to stop addiction before it begins by educating school
nurses and teachers on the signs of opioid addiction and the referral of
treatment.
The fight isn’t over, and our work to end opioid abuse and move Wisconsin forward continues.
Here in Wisconsin, we’re
proud to boast the title of America’s Dairyland and we're proud to call ourselves cheeseheads.
We know agriculture is essential to the economic well-being of our great state.
That’s why I proclaimed July 11 – July 13 as Farm Technology Days
to highlight the success of our agriculture industry and to thank the men and
women who put in the work to keep Wisconsin a national leader.
Farm
Technology Days is a way for farmers to share their new, cutting-edge ideas and
learn from one another to better their business and our state.
We enjoy sharing all the great news about our state with you. It is an honor to serve as your Governor and represent the people of Wisconsin.
Sincerely,
Governor Scott Walker
