When I ran for
re-election, I promised you, the people of Wisconsin, that taxes would be lower
in 2018 than they were in 2010.
Our budget proposal delivers
on this promise. Overall, our budget provides $592.7 million in total new tax
relief.
That’s real savings.
Tax Relief Included in Our Budget Proposal
-
A total of $592.7 million in tax relief.
- On top of the
more than $4.7 billion we’ve already cut taxes by, new tax relief included in
this budget proposal is expected to provide at least a total of $8 billion in tax reduction over the eight
years since we took office.
- Overall, income taxes on a typical family will
decrease by $139 in this budget.
-
Cumulative income tax rate cut savings from 2010 to 2018 will
save a typical family $1,542.
- Our budget
proposal permanently eliminates the
state portion of Wisconsin’s property tax bill.
-
Property taxes on a median-valued home will be lower in 2018
than 2010.
- This budget
proposal creates a “Back to School”
sales tax holiday, which is estimated to save Wisconsin families $11 million.
Our economy is strong,
and coupled with our dramatically improving state budget, the future of
Wisconsin is bright.
Last week, I hosted my February Facebook Live event and had a chance to
answer your questions directly.
And wow, did you ask some good ones.
You asked several questions about the budget proposal we introduced a
few weeks ago – like why we’re choosing to invest in K-12 and higher education,
accountable government, and rewarding work.
I also answered questions about transportation funding, how we plan to grow
small businesses here in Wisconsin, and much more!
