This
Saturday marks the kickoff of Wisconsin’s 2016 gun deer hunting season. Hunting
is a time-honored tradition throughout our state – one I look forward to every
year.
This
tradition not only brings together the people of Wisconsin, it also attracts
hunters from around the world. Hunting provides a healthy boost in tourism
revenue at both the local and state level, which ultimately has a positive
effect on our economy.
We
made it easier for hunters to register their deer online last year, and this
year, hunters can visit our “Go Wild” website to register their deer and get
their hunting license!
We
hope all Wisconsin hunters and visitors to our state enjoy the 2016 hunting
season. Good luck, and be safe!
Be
sure to check out our “Go Wild” website below.

We recently announced $10 million in funding for rural communities throughout our state to assist with economic development, workforce training, and workforce housing through Wisconsin’s Rural Economic and Area Development Initiative (READI).
The program is administered by the Department of Administration’s Division of Energy, Housing, and Community Resources. It is financed through unallocated funding from a Community Development Block Grant.
We encourage our rural communities to apply for this funding. This new approach not only encourages job creation in rural areas, but also trains workers and provides greater access to housing. By providing a comprehensive assistance program, we are laying the foundation for sustainable, long-term growth in rural Wisconsin communities.

While Madison has yet to experience its first snowfall, we're gearing up for the holiday season here at the Wisconsin State Capitol.
Earlier this week, the 2016 State Capitol Christmas Tree was selected and harvested in Eagle River. Today, this magnificent Balsam Fir was delivered to the Capitol.
We invite Wisconsin families to visit the beautiful State Capitol this holiday season and enjoy the tree, which will display ornaments from school children around the state matching our theme for this year: Wisconsin Wildlife!
