Governor Walker Releases Statement Honoring Victims of September 11th Terror Attacks

Madison – Governor Scott Walker released the following statement today in honor and remembrance of the victims of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks on our nation.

On September 11, 2001, we were rocked by the attack on our nation, resulting in the loss of thousands of innocent lives.

In the wake of this tragedy, we came together as one nation, under God, to mourn and grieve our loss. And against all odds, our country rose together stronger and more unified.

Today, we remember those who lost their lives in the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon – as well as the heroes on United Airlines Flight 93 who overtook the plane to prevent an additional attack and further loss of life.

We also honor our brave first responders who rushed towards the chaos and destruction and risked their own lives to save and aid those trapped or in distress.

We remember our nation’s firefighters, police officers, emergency medical response personnel, volunteers, and ordinary citizens from across the country, including Wisconsin, who headed to New York City and Washington D.C. to volunteer their time and service.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the friends and families of those who lost loved ones fifteen years ago today. May God continue to bless those who protect our freedoms every day by serving in the United States Armed Forces, and may God bless America.

In honor of 9/11, Governor Walker attended a Department of Military Affairs (DMA) Memorial Service at the Wisconsin State Capitol Building in Madison.

Governor Walker also issued Executive Order #213 ordering the flags of the United States and State of Wisconsin to be flown at half-staff in remembrance of the victims of the 9/11 terror attacks. A copy of the Executive Order is attached.
