In case you missed it, Purdue University's Military Family Research Institute (MFRI) gave a presentation analyzing veteran data in Wisconsin, hosted by the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs and the Veterans Community Action Network (VetsCAN).

Katie Walter from MFRI presented this unique analysis into the Institute's data and analysis of military and veterans in the State of Wisconsin. There were a few questions following the presentation that MFRI wanted to follow up on, along with additional resources:
- One participant asked how many WWII veterans are living in Wisconsin. According to the US Census Bureau (2023), there are about 220,000 veterans who served during WWII living among our nation. In Wisconsin specifically, this number is approximately 5,100.
- There were several questions about veteran housing burdens. For more more insights on severe housing burdens, see this resource.
- Here is MFRI's most recent Measuring Communities Spotlight Report, focusing on the financial well-being of military and veteran families.
If you have more questions, you can email Katie directly at schmit59@purdue.edu.
WDVA, MFRI, and VetsCAN extend our appreciation to all who joined us. A better understanding of the veteran population will help all of us improve outreach and services for Wisconsin veterans and their families.
