Applications Open to Mental Health Care Providers for Two Mental Health Grants
MADISON —Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) announced today that applications are now being accepted for two veteran mental health grants for mental health care providers. The grants will go directly to providers to defer the costs of mental health treatment for veteran patients. Both grant applications are due by Monday, October 9th at 4 p.m.
The Emergency/Crisis Mental Health Grant, for administering emergency and crisis mental health care to veterans. This grant will award a total of up to $2,000,000 to all Mental Health Providers to provide emergency/crisis mental health treatment for Wisconsin veterans. Individual grants requested are subject to the availability of funds and may not exceed $100,000 per applicant. The provider must have at least one employee who possesses one of the following professional degrees - Psychologist (Ph.D. or Psy.D.), Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Social workers with a Master's Degree or higher, Psychiatrists, or Psychiatric or Mental Health Nurse Practitioners.
The Ancillary Mental Health Grant is for mental health providers to administer ancillary mental health care to veterans. This grant will provide up to a total of $800,000 to all certified/licensed mental health providers to conduct ancillary veteran mental health treatment programs for Wisconsin veterans. Individual grants requested are subject to the availability of funds and may not exceed $50,000 per applicant. The provider must have at least one certified/licensed Occupational Therapist (OT), Certified OT Assistant, Massage or Bodywork Therapist, Acupuncturist, Art Therapist, Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor, Dance Therapist, Dietitian, Music Therapist, Prevention Specialist, Equine Therapist (certification must be from Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International), or Recreational Therapist (certification must be from National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification).
