Secretary-designee Bond Visits VHRP in Green Bay
Secretary-designee James Bond was in Green Bay on Friday, March 3, visiting WDVA’s Veteran Housing and Recovery Program (VHRP), which provides temporary housing, training, and supportive services to veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless with locations in Union Grove, Chippewa Falls, and Green Bay. Bond met with VHRP's Katrina Currier and veterans who are currently receiving help from VHRP.
WDVA appreciates our dedicated VHRP staff and those working hard to find housing for all who served and need assistance. VHRP is one of the key programs benefitting from Governor Evers proposed budget investments in veterans' housing insecurity. WDVA is grateful for this continued investment as no veteran should worry about having a place to call home. Learn more about VHRP here.

 Honoring Vietnam Veterans*
March 29 marks National Vietnam Veterans Day and the WDVA honors all of those that served and sacrificed during the Vietnam War. Fifty years ago on March 29, 1973, the United States Military Assistance Command, Vietnam was disestablished and the last U.S. combat troops departed. This departure officially ended year of war that forever marked a generation. This date is also recognized as the day that Hanoi released the last prisoners of war. During the war, 1,241 Wisconsinites were killed.
The Wisconsin Veterans Museum has curated a window display on Capitol Square and accompanying virtual exhibit, "Our Vietnam Veterans: Then and Now,” for the public to learn more about our veterans and hear their stories in their own words.
