For the 22nd year, the Wisconsin Veterans Museum is sharing the rich history of Wisconsin and its veterans from the serene and somber landscape of Madison's Forest Hill Cemetery. In its new format as a free 360 degree virtual tour, the Talking Spirits Cemetery Tour is filled with the fascinating stories of Wisconsinites that you expect, and because time and space limitations of an in-person tour have disappeared, you’ll get to see new areas of the cemetery and hear even more stories of its residents this year. To participate, visit MadisonCemeteryTours.com.
We look forward to celebrating Veterans Day with you next month. Like many events this year, our Veterans Day event will be virtual, but we have exciting plans in place to honor those who served.
In addition to our statewide observance, we look forward to supporting other local and specialized events throughout Wisconsin by sharing a list on our website. If your organization is hosting a free Veterans Day event, please add it to our list using this form.
"As the advocate for our state’s 350,000 veterans, I implore you to do all you can to keep yourself healthy and protect those in our communities who took an oath to serve our country, stand up for it, and fight if necessary." said Sec. Kolar during a recent radio address.
Vern Larson, chairman of the Wisconsin Board on Veterans Affairs, also recently shared an editorial in which he joins Sec. Kolar in encouraging COVID-19 precautions, "Our veterans stood up to protect us. Now we must stand up and protect them."
