WDVA Secretary Mary Kolar, along with Governor Tony Evers, Wisconsin Department of Revenue Secretary Peter Barca, VFW Commander Jason Johns, and Rolling Thunder State Liaison Mark Herrmann, unveiled the Wisconsin State Capitol's POW/MIA Chair of Honor in the Capitol's first floor rotunda last week.
POW/MIA Chairs of Honor represent service members who are unable to sit in them because of their sacrifices. We look forward to hosting a public POW/MIA Chair of Honor event next year.
Many of us here at the WDVA are essential workers who work with populations that are at-risk and vulnerable to serious illness related to the coronavirus. In addition to staying home when you can, and mask wearing when out, please keep up your good, safe practices of hand washing and social distancing. By protecting ourselves, we also protect the people around us and keep our entire community safe.
As a reminder, as cold and flu season is upon us; please help us to continue to protect the veterans we serve by getting your flu shot. If you don't get sick, then you're less likely to get others sick.
Applications are now being accepted for two grants available to Wisconsin nonprofit organizations that serve veterans and their families. Applications will be accepted through Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 4 p.m. The WDVA Non-Profit Grant welcomes applications from organizations that provide financial assistance or other services to Wisconsin veterans. The WDVA Entrepreneurship Grant seeks applications from organizations that provide entrepreneurship training or technical, business, or other assistance Wisconsin veterans.
