For five long months, we successfully beat the odds and kept COVID-19 out of our Wisconsin Veterans Homes. However, over the past few weeks a group of Members and staff at the Veterans Home at Union Grove and several Members and staff at the Veterans Home at King have tested positive for the virus. Now our mission changes and we will work even harder to prevent the virus’ spread.
At the Veterans Home at Union Grove, we have arranged for reinforcements from the federal VA to support our staff. The Wisconsin National Guard will also be assisting as we continue to conduct ongoing virus testing. In addition to regularly updating the families of our Members directly, we also post all updates/notifications on our website. For more information, visit www.WisVetsHomesCOVID.com.
Message from WDVA Secretary Kolar: "Please, for those who have served our country and those who support them, stay home whenever you can, wear a mask when you’re out, and try to stay at least six feet away from other people. We’re in this for the duration and your actions will help us win the battle against the virus. And protect our state Veterans Homes staff and our veterans." Read the full message.
