Voices of Women in America National Survey

The Wisconsin Women’s Council is asking women across Wisconsin to participate in the a national online survey of women to identify the issues women across the United States self-identify as impacting the daily lives of women at home and in the workplace.

The survey is led by the National Association of Commission for Women, a national non-profit organization. The survey is open now through January 31, 2020, is 100% anonymous and available in English and Spanish.

Women Veteran Salute

The State of Wisconsin has a long history of providing generous benefits, programs and services to state residents who entered active duty from Wisconsin and continue to reside in the state.

These benefits, programs and services are provided by the State of Wisconsin in order to supplement and complement those provided to veterans by the federal government.

Veterans Outreach and Recovery Program (VORP) coordinators can ​connect veterans with treatment, housing, and other emergency services. Get help​

Women Veteran Program Managers assist women veterans with services including primary care, pregnancy care, psychiatric care and sexual abuse counseling, inpatient medical/ surgical care, programs for homeless women veterans, and quality of care issues.

Proudly marching down the familiar road on the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians reservation, carrying a women veteran’s flag alongside the U.S. flag and eagle’s staff, Brigadier General Joane Mathews reflects on the events that shaped her into the trailblazer she is today.

Mathews, the first Native American female to serve as the Wisconsin National Guard’s deputy adjutant general for the Army, attributes part of her success to her heritage. Read more>>


Caring for Veterans: Mind, Body and Spirit Education Seminar


Education Seminar

The Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, Heartland Hospice and the UW Extension are partnering to offer an educational seminar on Wednesday, Jan. 29. The seminar will be in the Marden Memorial Center located at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King.

Participants will gain knowledge in helping individuals who have experienced trauma and grief in their lives, particularly veterans. The seminar will explore how these experiences may impact pain and the management of pain in individuals. We will also have time dedicated to the importance of caregiver self-care. WI Tech Council Contest

At a time when more veterans are expressing interest in becoming entrepreneurs, the 17th annual Wisconsin Governor’s Business Plan Contest is accepting entries online for the 2020 competition through 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2020.

The contest is designed to encourage entrepreneurs in the startup stage of tech-based businesses in Wisconsin. It links up-and-coming entrepreneurs with a statewide network of community resources, expert advice and mentoring, management talent and possible sources of capital. APPLY NOW!
