DNR Announces Winner Of 2021 Air, Air Everywhere Poetry Contest

2021PoetryContest

Christian Cale of Everest Virtual Academy and his original artwork.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) held its 10th annual poetry contest this May to celebrate Clean Air Month. Third, fourth and fifth grade students across Wisconsin completed activities from the DNR’s Air, Air Everywhere teacher’s activity guide, and wrote poems and riddles on what they learned about air in our state.

“The annual poetry contest is a real highlight of Clean Air Month. All the students that participated in this year’s poetry contest displayed creativity and hard work,” said Gail Good, DNR Air Program Director.

The department is pleased to announce that Christian Cale of Everest Virtual Academy in Weston, Wisconsin took first place in this year’s competition. Congratulations Christian!  Here is the winning poem:

Let’s Clear the Air

I would love to live in a world where,

Everyone aspires to breathe the cleanest and freshest of air,

Air so pure it’s beyond compare,

I want the whole world to agree and to be aware,

That it takes action from us all to lessen pollution so it’s fair,

If we all cooperate it would show we care,

To have clear, clean air for future generations to share,

We’d be much happier and healthier I swear,

If we could all work together to get there.
