NR 812 Revisions – NR 812.07: Definitions

To all licensed drillers and pump installers,

Changes to NR 812 – Wisconsin’s well and pump code - are coming soon!

Revisions to chapter NR 812, Wisconsin Administrative Code (NR 812) are expected to go into effect on July 1, 2020. DNR is sending weekly email communications on specific topics to all drillers and pump installers. This week, we focus on NR 812.07 - Definitions.

A short training module on this subject is now available at:  https://p.widencdn.net/d4oz3r/NR_812?download=true

Key changes to NR 812.07:

  1. Twenty-eight definitions have been deleted.  Definitions were deleted because they no longer appear anywhere in code language, and in some cases never appeared in code language; therefore, defining them in the administrative code is unnecessary.
  2. Seventeen definitions have been added to provide additional clarity to code language.
  3. Fifty-five definitions have been modified.  In most cases, the modification is to bring the definition into alignment with other statutes or administrative codes, thereby adding consistency across regulatory programs.  In other cases, synonymous definitions have been combined or the definition has been clarified to reduce confusion.

Make plans now to adjust your construction practices to meet the new requirements. Contact your local DNR Private Water Supply Specialist with any questions.
