This month we are sharing an assessment of triggers classified as domestic cats by trail camera hosts through May 2017. There were 244 triggers marked as domestic cats
from 56 survey blocks. Very few of the triggers were misclassified which is likely because domestic cats have fairly unique coloration. Additionally, trail camera hosts are often recognizing their own cats roaming their property. The most common animal misclassified as a domestic cat was cottontail rabbit. Raccoon and fox were also misclassified as domestic cat.

If you host trail cameras, chances are you’ve spotted a few
photos of whitetail deer passing through. But how do these snapshots add up to
the bigger picture of deer herd health?
The DNR’s Office of Applied Science is working to answer
this question through the Southwest Wisconsin CWD, Deer & Predator Study.
If you own property within the study
area, consider joining the largest and most comprehensive deer study ever
undertaken in Wisconsin as a volunteer landowner or Snapshot Wisconsin trail
camera host!
