Attn: Nursing Home Providers
Preadmission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR)
As part of the Division’s commitment to Teach, Learn and Collaborate, the Division of Quality Assurance (DQA)), is encouraging facilities to be aware of the regulations surrounding the Preadmission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR). The PASRR Level I is required to be completed prior to nursing home admission through the ForwardHealth Portal.
If the resident is admitting to the nursing home for a Short-Term Exemption (STE), nursing facilities must request county approval for all short-term exemptions using the County Review of Nursing Home, IMD, or ICF/IID Referrals form F-20822 prior to admission. The county liaison is expected to fill out, sign, and date form F-20822.
If it is determined that the individual, who is suspected of having a mental disease and/or intellectual disability, will need to stay beyond the STE period, a Level II screen referral needs to be conducted by the nursing facilities in the ForwardHealth portal by updating the individual’s existing Level I screen to indicate “Yes” to “Is the person staying longer than the permitted exemption period?” and upload the requested clinical documentation.
Please visit the PASRR: Resources page to find more information about the rules and regulations.
