Annual Income Limits, Allotments, and Deduction Adjustments for FoodShare

The federal government announced the 2025 monthly income limits used to determine eligibility for FoodShare and the monthly maximum allotments. Updates to deduction and allowances were also announced. These amounts will be updated on October 1, 2024, and are effective through September 30, 2025.

The following is more information on the changes:

  • Monthly income limits and maximum allotments increased for all households.
  • The minimum monthly FoodShare allotment for one or two people remains at $23.
  • The maximum excess shelter deduction increased to $712.
  • The homeless shelter deduction increased to $190.
  • The standard deduction increased for all assistance groups.
  • The heating standard utility allowance increased to $538.

These changes do not affect Medicaid health care programs. The federal poverty levels used to determine eligibility for BadgerCare Plus and certain categories of Medicaid were updated on February 1, 2024, and are effective through January 31, 2025.
