Wisconsin Vaccines for Children Program (VFC)

VFC Flu Vaccine

This message is being sent to the Vaccines for Children program, local public health officers, Tribal health directors, and key DHS staff.

Influenza vaccine for the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program will start to ship the week of August 26. This includes private providers and local and Tribal health departments (LTHD). Please remember to confirm the lot number, expiration date and the quantity of doses received and accept that order in the Wisconsin Immunization Registry (WIR). Keep in mind that many orders will not be sent in their entirety and multiple shipments will be needed to complete the order. Each shipment should be accepted in WIR as they are received.

Of note, this season, influenza vaccine may be sent with other vaccines provided by the Wisconsin Immunization Program such as routine childhood vaccines for the VFC program which is different than previous seasons, or for vaccines for the Vaccines for Adults (VFA) program (for locations that are both a VFC and a VFA provider). This is different than previous seasons.

Local health departments should be aware that vaccine for school-located mass vaccination programs will be shipping in mid-September.

Data loggers available

The Wisconsin Immunization Program is making available to VFC providers, at no cost to the provider, two data loggers that can be used either as a primary data logger, backup, or a transport data logger. The data logger provided is the VWR Traceable Vaccine-Trac, Data Logger Bundle, Vaccine Monitoring. You will be responsible for any recalibration required after the original calibration expires (approximately two years).

To receive free data loggers, complete the survey  by August 30, 2024. Data loggers will be sent in the fall.
