Public Health Emergency Preparedness Updates

PHEP Q&A Webinar—Tuesday, July 23, 2024, 10–11 a.m.

This message is being sent to public health emergency preparedness planners, local planners, local public health officers, Tribal health directors, and key staff.

This Zoom appointmentis used for all PHEP Q&A webinars 

The draft agenda is available now. 

You will need a computer that has a microphone and speakers or a headset. There is no requirement to attend or pre-register. Webinar agendas, notes, and recordings are posted on the Partner Communications and Alerting Portal (PCA Portal).

The next Public Health Emergency Preparedness Questions and Answers (PHEP Q&A) webinar will take place on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, from 10–11 a.m.

PHEP Office Hours

Public Health Emergency Preparedness Office Hours calls will be held by Office of Preparedness and Emergency Health Care (OPEHC) staff as an opportunity for local and Tribal preparedness staff to ask questions and obtain technical assistance with budget submission or revision, PCA Portal, reporting requirements, and any other PHEP-related topics. PHEP Q&A webinars are held via Zoom once a month on 1st or 2nd Wednesdays (alternate weeks from PHEP Q&A webinars) from 10:00 am – 11:00 am.

Wisconsin DHS Stockpile requests

Surplus supplies continue to be available through the DHS Stockpile. Eligible organizations can request PPE via the DHS Medical Stockpile webpage. Email the DHS Stockpile team at dhsstockpile@dhs.wisconsin.gov with any questions or assistance needs. 


PHEP Advisory Subcommittee

DHS’ Office of Preparedness and Emergency Health Care (OPEHC) supports the Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) Advisory Subcommittee of the Public Health Council. The purpose of the committee is to provide policy, program, and resource allocation recommendations to the Wisconsin PHEP program and to make recommendations to the Public Health Council on priorities and strategies to achieve public health emergency preparedness goals in Wisconsin.

New PHEP Strategic Planning Resource: PHEP Capabilities Planning Guide Self-Assessment Tool 

The PHEP Capabilities Planning Guide (CPG) Self-Assessment Tool is now available for use by local and Tribal public health partners. This is an optional resource that local and Tribal public health staff can use to self-assess their organization’s PHEP program across all 15 CDC Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response capabilities. The tool is designed to help local and Tribal public health agencies set strategic priorities, inform objectives, and identify capability gaps at the local and Tribal levels. Local and Tribal public health staff can find this tool under “PHEP Strategic Planning Tools” on the PH Preparedness page of the PCA Portal. 

Updated PHEP Resource: Local and Tribal Preparedness Staff Onboarding Checklist

The existing Local and Tribal Preparedness Staff Onboarding Checklist has been updated to include additional resources and updated links. In addition, priority onboarding tasks are now listed in a separate tab, along with a recommended timeline for completion. This is an optional resource that local and Tribal public health agencies may incorporate into their existing onboarding processes as they see fit. Local and Tribal public health staff can find the updated checklist on the PHEP Onboarding page of the PCA Portal.
