Pentavalent Meningococcal Vaccine (MenACWY-MenB) PENBRAYA™ Available, Td vaccine update

This message is being sent to Vaccines for Children providers, local health officers, and Tribal health directors.

Meningococcal Vaccine

The pentavalent meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY-TT/MenB-FHbp [PENBRAYA™, Pfizer, Inc.]) protects against N. meningitidis serogroups A, B, C, W, and Y, and is licensed for use among persons aged 10–25 years.

The ACIP has recommended that if a patient is receiving MenACWY and MenB vaccines at the same visit, PENBRAYA™ may be given instead for the following groups:

  • Healthy persons aged 16–23 years (routine schedule) when shared clinical decision-making favors administration of MenB vaccine.
  • Persons aged ≥10 years who are at increased risk for meningococcal disease (for example, persistent complement deficiencies, complement inhibitor use or functional or anatomic asplenia).

Note: Different manufacturers’ MenB vaccines are NOT interchangeable.

Penbraya (Meningococcal Groups, A, B, C, W, and Y) is now available through the Vaccines for Children Program for your patients 10 years of age through 18.

Penbraya will be available in:

  • 1 pack – 1 dose vial NDC 00069-0600-01
  • 5 pack – 1 dose vial NDC 00069-0600-05

Both NDC’S will come with a vial of Lyophilized MenACWY and a syringe of the MenB component. The only difference is the packaging.

TD Vaccine

We continue to be on allocation for Td vaccine and will not be filling orders for those who have inventory of 10 or more doses on hand. Your order may be denied and you will need to reorder at a later date. We continue to do the best we can with the very limited doses available to Wisconsin. Tdap continues to be readily available.
