Register for Spring 2024 Caregiver Training Project Workshops

As part of the Division’s commitment to Collaboration, Innovation and Quality, the WI Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Quality Assurance (DQA), and the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, Center for Community Development, Engagement and Training (UWO CCDET) are pleased to announce the workshops offered in Spring 2024.

Workshops for Administrators, Managers, Supervisors & HR Professionals
Are you responsible for completing caregiver background checks on your employees? Conducting caregiver misconduct investigations? Ensuring continuing education for staff or navigating the training requirements? Training staff to work with individuals with dementia? These workshops are for you!

Virtual Workshops (various dates & times between March and June):

  • 5 Steps to Caregiver Background Checks: Completing checks & evaluating results.
    Investigating & Reporting Allegations of Misconduct: Meeting state & federal regulations.
  • Ready, Set, Train – Continuing Education Topics: An overview of available materials.
  • Setting Your Training Course: Navigating the regulations.
  • Caregivers SOAR! Encouraging Success ~ Opportunity ~ Advancement ~ Retention – NEW in 2024.

To help keep these virtual workshops affordable and accessible, they are partially subsidized by DQA. Depending on the workshop, you can attend for $75, $100, or $125 and, in most cases, choose between a.m. or p.m. sessions. All workshops are facilitated by experienced CCDET trainers, and many are attended by DQA subject matter experts.

In-person Workshop (at the UWO Culver Family Welcome Center):

  • Challenging Behavioral Specialist Train-the-Trainer on May 2.

This 6-hour in-person course trains qualified individuals to train their own audiences using the Challenging Behavioral Specialist training materials. This course was developed for and approved by DHS as part of the Wisconsin Dementia Care Project.
