PHEP Connects
The PHEP Connects webinar on December 9 at 1 p.m. ET will introduce a new CDC online tool, “Crosswalk of the Public Health Accreditation Board’s (PHAB) Standards and Measures and CDC’s Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Capabilities.” Participants will learn about the capabilities and accreditation standards and how they can use the new Accreditation and Preparedness Crosswalk to quickly identify direct and indirect connections between the two sets of standards.

Workforce Development Grant (WFD) reporting survey now available
The WFD Program has adopted REDCap as the reporting mechanism for the CDC COVID-19 Public Health Workforce Development Supplemental Funding (Workforce Development Grant). Unique links to complete the survey have been sent to each local health officer and Tribal health director. If you cannot locate your survey email, please reach out to the WFD Program at DHSCOVID19WFDGrant@dhs.wisconsin.gov.
A copy of the survey questions can also now be accessed on the PCA Portal. Please complete the survey no later than December 1, 2023.
Grant reporting webinar
The WFD Program will be hosting a webinar to familiarize local and Tribal public health departments (LTHDs) with the REDCap survey used to report on the WFD Grant. Attendees will learn how to access, save, resume, and complete the required fields in the survey. The webinar will be recorded, and a link to the recording will be shared with subrecipients via GovD.

Region V Public Health Training Center New to Public Health Residency Program
In partnership with the New to Public Health Residency Program, the Region V Public Health Training Center is excited to announce the opportunity for early career public health professionals to participate in a Region V sponsored cohort of the New to Public Health Residency Program. The New to Public Health (N2PH) Residency Program is a workforce development program designed to support new public health professionals over one year. By participating in the N2PH Residency Program, residents will build competency for evidence-based public health and confidence for addressing the challenges of public health work. This 12-month virtual program is built on evidence-based practices to support public health professionals as they transition to their roles in a governmental public agency. Participation also supports cross-cutting competencies and career satisfaction.
To be considered for the N2PH Region V sponsored cohort, apply on the N2PH registration page.
Applications are due November 15, 2023. Applicants will be notified in December 2023 of their application status.
Note: This Region V sponsored cohort is only available to individuals within the Region V states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin. The cohort will be limited to six people per state for 36 people total across the region.
Wisconsin DHS Stockpile Requests
N95 respirators, KN95 masks, gowns, gloves, coveralls, and additional medical supplies continue to be available through the DHS Stockpile. Eligible organizations can request PPE via the DHS Medical Stockpile webpage. Email the stockpile team at dhsstockpile@dhs.wisconsin.gov with any questions or assistance needs.
PHEP Advisory Subcommittee
DHS’ Office of Preparedness and Emergency Health Care (OPEHC) supports the Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) Advisory Subcommittee of the Public Health Council. The purpose of the committee is to provide policy, program, and resource allocation recommendations to the Wisconsin PHEP program and to make recommendations to the Public Health Council on priorities and strategies to achieve public health emergency preparedness goals in Wisconsin.

New PHEP strategic planning resource: PHEP Capabilities Planning Guide Self-Assessment Tool
The PHEP Capabilities Planning Guide (CPG) Self-Assessment Tool is now available for use by local and Tribal public health partners. This is an optional resource that local and Tribal public health staff can use to self-assess their organization’s PHEP program across all 15 CDC Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response capabilities. The tool is designed to help local and Tribal public health agencies set strategic priorities, inform objectives, and identify capability gaps at the local and Tribal levels. Local and Tribal public health staff can find this tool under “PHEP Strategic Planning Tools” on the PH Preparedness page of the PCA Portal.
Updated PHEP resource: Local and Tribal Preparedness Staff Onboarding Checklist
The existing Local and Tribal Preparedness Staff Onboarding Checklist has been updated to include additional resources and updated links. In addition, priority onboarding tasks are now listed in a separate tab, along with a recommended timeline for completion. This is an optional resource that local and Tribal public health agencies may incorporate into their existing onboarding processes as they see fit. Local and Tribal public health staff can find the updated checklist on the PHEP Onboarding page of the PCA Portal.
