Since November 2022, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services has awarded nearly $30 million in grants to 158 organizations to boost Medicaid home and community-based services (HCBS). Funded projects excel in creatively and positively impacting Medicaid HCBS programs that serve members, participants, and their families, as well as direct care workers and HCBS providers.

Capri Communities is leveraging their grant funding to pilot a “4-for-5” workweek for caregiving and dining staff, in which employees work four days but are paid for five. This has created a larger pool of employees and improved retention. One Capri caregiver, Molly, says she returns to work recharged and eager to interact with residents.

…for families like Ricki and William

Options for Independent Living’s grant funding focuses on a Modification Navigator (NAV) Pilot Program to help make members’ homes more accessible. Ricki (right) and William (front) discovered that new home additions like a ramp have made a world of difference in their lives. Previously, William spent over a year in a nursing facility after a stroke because his house wasn’t accessible.
