CMS Issues QSO-20-38-NH Revised 9/23/22 and QSO-20-39-NH Revised 9/23/22
QSO-20-38-NH Revised 9/23/2022
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued QSO-20-38-NH REVISED Interim Final Rule, COVID-19 Facility Testing Requirements, stating that routine testing of asymptomatic staff is no longer recommended but may be performed at the discretion of the facility. The memo also provides a link to recent guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Infection Control: Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) | CDC on this topic. Additionally, the memo provides updated recommendations for testing individuals who have recovered from COVID-19.

CMS has also issued QSO-20-39-NH Revised Nursing Home Visitation - COVID-19 Visitation Guidance. The memo provides updating guidance regarding staff, residents, and visitors wearing face coverings and masks during visits. CMS also removed the vaccination status from the guidance. The Nursing Home Visitation - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) have been updated and are attached to the memo.
