COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Planning Survey: Children under 5 Years
Pending approval by the FDA, we anticipate that beginning in June vaccinators will be able to place orders for new COVID-19 vaccine products for children 6 months through 4 years of age as they undergo review and potential approval for use.
This survey is intended to:
-
Measure and map intent to vaccinate this new age group
-
Inform the DHS vaccine distribution plan, and
-
Proactively identify any potential gaps in access to these new vaccine products
Please complete and submit one survey per vaccination site by June 1.
DHS Supports CDC Recommendation for Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine Booster Dose for Children Ages 5 through 11 years
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) supports the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) recommendation that children ages 5 through 11 years should receive a booster dose 5 months after their initial Pfizer-BioNTech (Pfizer) COVID-19 vaccination series. On May 19, after rigorous review of all available data, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommended, and the CDC director endorsed this recommendation.
On the same day, the CDC also strengthened another booster recommendation by updating a “may” receive to a “should” receive for the following people regarding receiving a second COVID-19 booster dose. People ages 12 years and older who are moderately or severely immunocompromised, and all people ages 50 years and older should receive a second COVID-19 booster dose.

Start Planning Now for Summer Mobile COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics
DHS’ vaccination partner AMI Expeditionary Healthcare (AMI) conducts free COVID-19 mobile vaccination clinics. These clinics are a great fit for summer events, festivals, large gatherings, and sites/locations that are heavily visited when the weather gets warmer, and school is out.
The convenience of an on-site clinic can make it possible for many people who otherwise may not have received the COVID-19 vaccine to get vaccinated or boosted, which will help keep families and communities safe.
To request an AMI mobile vaccination clinic, simply fill out the State COVID-19 Resource Matching Survey. DHS can accommodate requests up to 4-weeks in advance so start planning now for those high-traffic events in your county or area.
