DHS Announces New Funding Opportunity for Nursing Homes and Long-Term Care Facilities
Nursing Home and Long-Term Care Facility Infection Prevention and Infrastructure Matching Grant
Today, as part of an award from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) will launch a program to award approximately $4.5 million in matching funds to support nursing homes and other types of long-term care facilities (LTCFs) with infection prevention and infrastructure needs. Nursing homes and other LTCFs can apply for matching funds up to 50% of the total project cost with a cap of $20,000 per license.
Through this program, facilities will propose projects customized to their needs that are of most value to them. Facilities are encouraged to use the funds for projects that have a lasting impact beyond the term of the funding to support strong infection prevention infrastructure for the health and safety of their staff and residents.
The initial round for applications is now open and will remain open through April 25. Eligible facility types include nursing homes, assisted living facilities (ALFs), and other types of LTCFs. This is a cost-sharing program, meaning each facility must first pay for the project in full and can then submit invoices for reimbursement of the pre-approved matching funds. As a stipulation of the CDC funds, at least half of the total amount of funding must be used for nursing homes.
