Updates About Pandemic EBT Benefit Programs

Thank you for your ongoing engagement with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services regarding Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) benefits. As we continue to partner to ensure successful benefit issuances that best meet the needs of eligible families, we want you to be aware of the information below.

Pre-6 P-EBT

The first Pre-6 P-EBT issuance will take place on Saturday, May 29, for the months of October through December 2020. Please refer anyone with questions to the Pre-6 P-EBT web page. As we have talked about on our stakeholder calls, this benefit is very different from the School P-EBT benefit in that it is tied to a family being in FoodShare for the months of the benefit and benefits are being provided on a regional basis. Please note: there is no way to “apply” for the Pre-6 P-EBT benefit, as a family is either eligible in our system or they aren’t. As always, we greatly appreciate your work with families in helping them understand this new benefit.

School P-EBT

We appreciate your ongoing questions about the second round of School P-EBT benefits for the months of December 2020 through March 2021. We are dedicated to making sure that we have the best data possible and a good system in place to help eligible families when we release the second round of these benefits. Due to the challenges of the first round, we want to ensure that we have a system and processes in place to make this a better experience for all. DHS has been working closely with DPI, and we expect to have a new issuance date to share with you over the next week to two weeks. Getting these benefits out to eligible families is our highest priority.

Please continue to share any questions or concerns that you have about both of these benefits with us. The next scheduled stakeholder call is on June 2 and we will use that meeting to continue to share information about these programs and discuss any feedback and questions that you have. We are happy to receive your emails and calls as we partner to make this a positive experience for all.
